Project Overview
The project involved groundwater and soil remediation following a diesel leakage incident. The work focused on installing the required recovery and monitoring infrastructure to address diesel contamination and support ongoing site assessment.
The scope included drilling, installation of diesel skimmers and monitoring wells, and implementation of a groundwater recovery system. These measures were intended to facilitate the recovery of floating diesel from groundwater and provide access for monitoring conditions at the affected site.
Drilling & Site Preparation
Drilling works were carried out to establish the locations required for the recovery and groundwater monitoring systems.
The activities included:
- Drilling for monitoring wells and recovery installations
- Preparing well locations based on site requirements
- Installation of the required well infrastructure
- Coordination of drilling and installation activities
Diesel Skimmer Installation
Diesel skimmers were installed as part of the recovery system to remove floating diesel from the groundwater surface where present.
The installation formed part of the remediation approach for managing petroleum contamination and supporting recovery from the affected area.
Key activities included:
- Installation of diesel skimmers
- Setup of the recovery arrangement
- Connection and integration of recovery equipment, as required
- Checks of the installed system
Groundwater Monitoring Wells
Monitoring wells were installed to provide access to groundwater for inspection and sampling. These wells support the assessment of groundwater conditions and help track changes in contamination levels over time.
The scope included:
- Installation of groundwater monitoring wells
- Preparation of monitoring points
- Provision for groundwater sampling and inspection
- Support for ongoing site monitoring
Recovery System Implementation
The groundwater recovery system was implemented to support the removal of recoverable diesel from the affected area. The installed infrastructure provided a means of collecting floating product and monitoring groundwater conditions during remediation.
The work brought together drilling, recovery equipment installation and groundwater monitoring infrastructure as part of the site's diesel contamination remediation programme.
